December 19, 2011 LAST POST!

Hola,

Well, this is weird. I'll be home tomorrow. I',mostly packed and I've said most of my goodbyes. I'll head up to the mission home this afternoon around 4:30pm. It doesn't feel real. I'm excited to see everyone but there are a lot of good people down here that I'm going to miss.

We had a good week. Staying busy until the end. I have a plan all figured out. I'm leaving my bike with a member down here soooo, therefore, I have to come back and visit.

It's been a crazy two years!

Hola,

Last week was very busy. We delivered a Christmas tree to one of our investigators. I think it meant a lot to her and her family. We have been working really hard with her and she is really close to baptism, but I'm not sure if it will happen before I leave.

I got my "trunky papers" on Saturday. They have all my flight stuff and information about going to the temple before I leave. It doesn't even feel real. It still feels a long ways away. I don't know why.

We've been finding new people so that's been keeping me focused.

I ate some peanut butter this morning that I think was like 5 years old. GROSS.

It snowed last week! Not very much, but it snowed.

We have a busy week this week so I think it's going to go fast. Tomorrow we have Exchanges. Wednesday I have my departure interview with the mission president. Thursday we have Zone Conference. Friday I have a lunch date. Saturday and Sunday I don't know...packing, I guess. I hate packing.

I started flossing again in preparation for my dentist appointment in a few weeks.

I also finished reading "Jesus the Christ" 2 weeks ago and have 30 pages left in "El Libro de Mormon".

Everything is coming together.

Hola,

2 weeks?! I can't believe it. We've been working hard, don't worry.

The stake did a presentation of the forgotten carols again this year. We went on Saturday night and it was good. Isn't that crazy I've been in the same stake for over a year. Love it!

The weather has been cooling down and we've been getting some rain. We have our fingers crossed for snow. My blood has thinned out a lot in the past 2 years.

The teaching is going good. I'm finally getting the hang of it...

Last night we went to the First Presidency Christmas devotional. That was great. It helped me learn a few important things that are going to help me out these next two weeks.

We've started eating tamales.

Hola,

Thanksgiving was awesome! We pigged out.

In the morning we went to the El Paso Thanksgiving Day parade. I've gone two years in a row so it's becomming a personal tradition. After the parade we put on our white volunteer t-shirts and picked up garbage with the rest of Rio Grande Ward. It was a good time. The weather was perfect. Afterward we did weekly planning because it was Thursday.

Then we went and ate dinner with one of the sisters in the ward and the other Elders. It was delicous. I forgot to grab my camera but I will send pictures next week. We helped perpare the food a little bit and then ate like it was the last supper!

Afterwards we went by another member's house and, of course, ate some more. They said they were going to eat at 6:00pm so we showed up at 8:00pm to avoid eating again but they hadn't even started yet so we got to pig out some more.

Elder Humpherys and I found a family while knocking doors a few weeks ago. It's a mom and her son and daughter. We taught them about 3 times but the kids didn't speak much spanish so we had to turn them over to the english Elders, BUT they went to Church yesterday and loved it. When we talked to the mom the first day she really had no interest in talking to us, or so it seemed. But we were a little bit more persistent with her for one reason or another, I don' know why. She let us come back and like I said we taught them a few times and they are doing really good. That was prettty cool.

I'm still not sure if I can let you in on our miracle but maybe later if it all works out.

Hola,

We had a really, really good week this week! We have lots of work to do and we are staying busy so I'm thankful for that. I feel like I'm finishing strong.

Yesterday, we had a bunch of people come to church for the first time and it was great. Me and Elder Humpherys are in the midst of a miracle with one of our investigators BUT I don't want to jinx it soooooo I'll tell you all about it later. We had a pretty cool experience this week. I promise I'll tell you later.

We did lots of service this week. We finished cleaning a pool. Thanks to the things I learned from Grandpa Stan about bailing the crabbing boat, I was able to make my own bailer and got all the green water out of the pool. We also pulled some weeds and moved some rocks.

Hola,

This week was a good one. It was a little crazy with transfers, but it was good.

We have this awesome person we are teaching. She is really great. Her daughter is friends with a member girl whose dad told us he had a referral for us about 4 weeks ago. But he never gave it to us. We actually ended up knocking into her. It was meant to be that we found her. We took her on a Church tour on Saturday with two Sisters from the ward and she said she liked it a lot.

The rest of the ward went to the Gila Valley temple on Saturday and from what I've heard it was great.

A really strong recent convert family just moved within the ward boundaries. They live in the same apartment complex as some other people we've been teaching. I'm also pretty sure that was meant to be. They've gone with us twice to visit them already.

With transfers we got a new truck! It's amazing. We are pretty dang spoiled...it's disgusting.

One of our favorite families (part-member) is moving soon. At first I didn't believe them. but they're serious. They're selling everything in their house and moving to another house that they own up in New Mexico. We made empanadas with them last night.

Hola,

Sooo, as for my last transfer I will be staying in my area and I'll be staying with Elder Humphreys. My whole mission in El Paso. Crazy.

President pulled a quick one on everybody this transfer and only told the people who were leaving that they were leaving. No one knows who their new companions will be or where they are going if they are moving. I'm glad this is my last transfer.

We set two baptismal dates this week and have a lot of really good people we are working with. One of our investigators with a date is a 14 year-old kid. We've been teaching his whole family but never all at once...two here, two there, but they are all really cool and hopefully we can get them all on the same page here soon.

It's been cooling down a lot and its great.

Last night, I went to my old area and went to the bishop's house for a going away deal for Elder Salazar. It was really nice to see all those people over there. I couldn't stop smiling.

One of the elders in the ward is going home this week and it's been weird seeing him this transfer and past few days getting ready. Missions go by soooo fast. You can't blink or else you might miss it.
